Tavistock is an ancient stannary and market town in West Devon, England, sitting on the River Tavy and bordering Dartmoor National Park. Famous as the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake, it is the only town in Devon with UNESCO World Heritage status for its rich mining and trading history.
